Four independent inventions of writing are most commonly recognized [9] – in Mesopotamia c. 3400 – c. 3100 BC, in Egypt c. 3250 BC, [10] [11] [7] in China before c. 1250 BC, [12] and in Mesoamerica before c. 1 AD. [13]
Ancient civilizations like the Egyptians and the Sumerians invented numeral systems to solve practical arithmetic problems in about 3000 BCE.

We can follow a similar road in travel. Humans walked; then they invented horseback riding and dog sleds. We can be sure that there were riders killed when thrown from horse, when sleds slammed into a tree trunk. Stagecoaches and buggies were safer, perhaps an early form of mass-transit; progress associated with collisions and deaths. Railed trains of materials wagons were augmented by railed trains of passenger coaches and deaths. Faster passenger trains brought more deaths (and mental anguish). Alsofor aircraft. And space-craft.
Each step in progression advanced the frontier. Motor-cars/automobiles have sent human minds on a trajectory labelled "accidents", although I note with muted satisfaction that today the news media are switching to "collisions". Airbags and ABS systems try and fail to compensate for human error and failures of self-driving transport.
Times go on, and we move on.
The AI of today will find itself relegated to the early days of motoring – punctures in two tyres, running out of petrol with long distances between petrol stations (see "Australia"). I look back to the days of assembly-language programming, long gone for me.
AI as we know it today will be seen, one hundred years from now, as a furious bloom of possibilities that slowly settled down into something relatively benign.
Don't hold your breath, That time will come long after you and I are dead.
